Welcome to Crazy Cat People!

When my husband Michael and I decided we wanted to start a blog about crazy cat people, I had to ask myself what exactly is a crazy cat person.  If you asked me, it would be one of those reclusive little old ladies living alone in a house with 30 or more cats.  If you ask others, well, we would definitely qualify and I am sure many of our dearest friends think we are.  So, here we are, proudly owning up to that label and attempting to share how we came to be Crazy Cat People and some of our experiences, both good and bad.

My earliest memories of life all include cats, the first several were orange tabby males named Penny who inexcusably all had short life spans.  I guess back in the day people didn’t often get their pets spayed or neutered the way they do now and these male cats spent most of their nights out searching for some action and would ultimately get hit by a car and killed.  My father’s belief that is was not right to take “that” away from the poor creatures probably had more to do with the fact that they simply had no money for the procedures. As a child, I took those losses in stride, knowing that before long there would be another cute and cuddly kitten to replace the lost Penny.  My Mother on the other hand, always deeply mourned the losses, as we would today, and finally, by my senior year, put her foot down and refused to open either her home or her heart to any more cats.
Over time, Michael and I will share with you the stories of our cats, both the ones we have today and those that we have loved and lost, and others we have come to love.  Today we share our home with Boo Boo, Jack, Zeus, Hermes, Hades, Athena, Aphrodite, Sunny, Ghost, and Sundance who lives on our patio from time to time.
